§ II   About this stock

Discontinued surplus ultimo mini adjustable metal-halide downlight — ex-distribution JCC clearance for the retrofit trade.

The JCC JC87014 is the Ultimo Mini adjustable metal-halide downlight in its 40° flood optic, offered here in white (150 units) and silver (17 units) for a combined 167-unit holding. The Ultimo Mini is a recessed, gimbal-adjustable downlight built around a compact G8.5 CDM-TC ceramic metal-halide (CDM) lamp of 35W or 70W — a light source prized in retail and display for its crisp, high-colour-rendering white output and its punchy, controlled beam from a small aperture. The 40° flood optic makes this the general-wash member of the family: broad, even coverage for merchandise walls, circulation and display bays rather than tight pin-spotting.

This stock is supplied as the fitting only — the lamp is not included. That matters for two reasons. First, it keeps the resale position clean: an empty luminaire is not subject to the lamp or Ecodesign restrictions that affect the sale of discontinued lamps, so the housing can be traded and installed freely. Second, it opens the fitting's most valuable modern use — LED retrofit. The Ultimo Mini's die-cast body, adjustable gimbal and quality reflector are engineered to a standard that comfortably outlasts the CDM lamp, and G8.5/G12-based LED CDM replacement lamps are now widely available, so a buyer can convert these to low-maintenance LED and put a premium adjustable downlight back into service at a fraction of new-fit cost.

For the trade this is one of the stronger lines in the parcel by both quantity and quality. Adjustable metal-halide downlights sat at the higher end of commercial lighting when new — they were specified where colour accuracy and beam control genuinely mattered, in fashion and jewellery retail, galleries, showrooms and hotel display. A die-cast adjustable housing of this grade retains real value as a serviceable, retrofit-ready fitting long after the CDM lamp technology it was designed for has been superseded, which is exactly the arbitrage a refurbisher or ITAD-style lighting reseller works: buy the quality housing as surplus, re-lamp to LED, resell as a working luminaire.

The two finishes widen the addressable market: white to sit flush in painted plasterboard ceilings, silver for exposed-service, industrial-chic and higher-spec retail schemes. At 167 units this is enough to support a real resale programme rather than a one-off repair, whether that is a phased retrofit of an existing estate or a bulk listing to the refurbisher trade.

Commercially the JC87014 is offered as UK surplus / liquidation stock for trade and resale only. It is not a retail product and is not sold as a stand-alone line: it forms part of Austral Prime's JCC commercial lighting whole-lot bulk package — roughly 8,585 units across infrastructure, fittings and architectural hardware, supplied as a single lot for GBP 8,500 (ex-VAT) ex-warehouse Leicester. The whole-lot structure lets one buyer take the entire discontinued range at clearance economics and then place the individual lines into their own maintenance, refurbishment, retrofit or export channels at trade margin.

End applications remain firmly live because the format — a compact, adjustable, high-CRI recessed downlight — is still exactly what retail and display want; the light source has simply moved from CDM to LED. Fashion, homeware and jewellery retail, museums and galleries, showrooms, hotel and hospitality display, and premium commercial fit-out are the natural homes for these fittings, whether re-lamped to LED CDM replacements or kept on metal halide where a compliant lamp is available. Re-using die-cast housings rather than scrapping them is a clean sustainability story for buyers on a circular or refurbishment model.

On comparable pricing, ceramic metal-halide adjustable downlights of this grade were premium-tier products when new, and the current LED equivalents that replaced them still carry specification-tier pricing. A surplus die-cast housing bought at clearance and re-lamped to an LED CDM replacement therefore lands well below the cost of a new specification downlight while delivering the same optics and adjustability, which is the arbitrage a lighting refurbisher builds a resale programme on. At 167 units the holding is deep enough to quote against a phased estate retrofit rather than a one-off repair.

Typical buyers are electrical wholesalers, lighting refurbishers and retrofit installers, commercial fit-out firms, pallet and job-lot liquidation traders, and export resellers serving the EU or Australian markets. UK supply is subject to VAT at the standard rate (reclaimable by VAT-registered buyers); exports removed from the UK may be zero-rated on valid evidence. The full per-SKU manifest — quantities, finishes, locations, dimensions and box-label photography — is available on enquiry. Title and risk pass on dispatch from Leicester; buyers collect or arrange their own freight. Sale is 'as is', on documentary (not third-party audited) evidence, with photographs supplied ahead of commitment.
