Most electrical contractors price a job in two halves: labour and materials. Labour rates are visible and contested; materials margin is where a well-bought van earns its keep. Buying lighting components at wholesale-counter prices, job by job, hands that margin to the factor. Buying a clearance job lot once — at liquidation economics — keeps it. At GBP 8,500 ex-VAT for roughly 8,585 units, this parcel averages out below a pound a unit across the mix, against components you would otherwise purchase individually every time a fit-out, refresh or call-out needs them.
The mix here suits contractors who work on retail units, offices, hospitality rooms and domestic renovations — the day-to-day book of most small and mid-sized firms. It is predominantly JCC Lighting, a long-established UK trade brand, with a small number of other trade lines in the mix. Because much of it is discontinued, ex-distribution stock, it also carries a second value: spec-matched spares for legacy JCC installations. When a client’s existing JCC track run needs a connector, a feeder or the correct endcap, generic parts will not fit the profile — and the contractor holding original components is the only call that solves the problem in one visit.
Look at where the volume actually sits and the working pattern is obvious. The deepest line in the lot is the Fireguard-range downlight, sold by JCC as fire-rated (666 of the 11W brushed-nickel model) — a ceiling product contractors fit by the dozen on flat conversions and commercial refits. Behind it sit 583 three-circuit feeder plugs, 420 Mini LV endcaps and 336 drop-rod suspension kits: exactly the consumable-grade components that disappear from a van week after week. There is bathroom content too — shower lights, LV bathroom downlight kits with transformer and lamp included, shaver sockets — plus a run of 10A press switches. None of it is exotic; all of it is billable.
Everything is sold as one parcel, so this is a purchase for a firm (or two firms splitting a van each) rather than a single-job top-up. The parcel is held ex-warehouse Leicester, UK. Buyers collect or arrange their own freight — a transit van run or a single pallet-network pickup, depending on how you take it. Pricing is GBP; the sale is VAT-registered, so UK supply adds VAT at the standard rate, reclaimable by VAT-registered contractors. Title and risk pass on dispatch. Manifests, photographs and source documentation are supplied before any commitment.
